Sun Protection!
Tuesday, June 18, 2013 • 11:43 AM • 0 comments

If there is anything my mother has taught it, it is to always stay indoors and NEVER be tanned. Unfortunately, like many people, i LOVEE outdoor activities and i LOVEE being in the sun. But at the same time, i want to stay fair and flawless. so this is a tough call. To be or not to be~ just kidding. but what i am trying to say here is that everyone, not just me alone, faces the trouble of being out in the sun yet wanting to stay fair. when this becomes a dilemma, there is honestly a very quick and simple solution. SUN PROTECTION!! With sun protection, you can be in the outdoors for the entire day yet you don't have to worry about a single thing. Tanning or becoming dark should not be a problem if you use the right kind of sun block products. Plus, with so many new technological improvements, the level of protection varies and nowadays, sun screens also have the function to nourish your skin.

Himecastle carries several Korean and Japanese brand Sun Protection Products include: Dr. Jart, Dr. Young, and Somang. Each brand has their specialties and each product has their unique features to suit your needs. First, let's teach you guys how to read the labels on the sun protector. What is SPF? What is PA ++?? SPF represents Sun Protection Factor. The number next to SPF such as SPF15 means the amount of time you should NOT be burn which would be 150 minutes. However, this only indicates the time you should not be burned, not the Ultraviolet Rays, which is basically how strong sun rays are at you. But Ultraviolet rays are EVERYWHERE, there are stronger sun blocks for that, but usually its for occasion when you are directly under the sun for a long time whereas SPF's are for every day usage. PA is a Japanese rating system they invented before new regulations were placed t o show how much protection you are receiving. The more "+" you see after PA, the more protection you get. So, PA +++ will have more protection than PA ++. But because PA is a unique Japanese rating system, the U.S FDA does not have the same measurement. You will need to look for broad spectrum when you buy American Sun screens.

Since now you have a basic idea of how sun protection works, NOW let's look at our products!!

Dr. Jart | Ctrl-A Sensitive Sun Protector (SPF35, PA++)
This is a hypoallergenic sunscreen for sensitive, acne prone skin. it applies smoothly without leaving white residues and the light and moist texture gives a powdery, refreshing finish. It does not contain any ingredients that may potentially cause acne. The best thing is, it is free of paraben, fragrances, tar colors, mineral oil, bezophenone, trithanolamine, sulfate surfactant, Benzyl alcohol, talc, Poly Acrylamide. This  is mean, it passes the skin irritation test and is suitable for sensitive skins! Because the label says, SPF35, this means it can protect your skin from sun for as long as 350 minutes! Also, if you read the PA ++, it tells you the level of protection from UV rays you are receiving!

Dr. Young | 2p Brightening UV Sun Block (SPF 50/PA++)
This Dr. Young Sun Protector shows that it can prevent sun burnt for 500 minutes after usage and the PA level is PA ++. With SPF 50+ PA++, it helps to protect the skin from UV damage. Because it contains Arbutin and Q10, it helps to brighten up the skin complexion and it also cares for UV damaged skin and prevents dehydration, while inhibiting melanin production and preventing sun-related spots and freckles. Thus, the function of this sun protector is different from the previous one introduced based on your own needs. It is stronger and has whitening effects, whereas Dr. Jart's is great for sensitive skin.

Somang | Danahan EcoPure Perfect Sun (SPF 50/PA+++)
This sun protector contains extracts of organically grown plants to protect skin against environmental attacks. it reduces uneven pigmentation over time while a high degree of SPF50+/PA+++ of UVA and UVB protection. (UVA is ultraviolet A rays, UVB is ultraviolet B rays). It creates a barrier that defends skin from wrinkles and sun-induced age spots. The fluid texture absorbs easily for a weightless feel that can easily be worn udner make up, leaving skin a clear glow.

Remember, exposure to direct sunlight over a long period of time can lead to cancer or skin diseases. it is imperative to take preemptive action and protect your skin while it's early! Beauty simply starts in the early stages, step by step. It would be too late if you have a bunch of wrinkles beneath your eyes and on your forehead to even start applying skin care :P Don't let that happen!!
