5 Things You Need to Know About Wigs!

What to look out when buying wigs??

Purchasing a wig and deciding to wear one takes a lot of courage and consideration. You definitely don't want to expense money buying a crappy wig and end up hating it. They are many things to look over for when buying a wig. One thing you must pay attention to is the quality of the caps, and the wig in general. Adjustable sizing is important because it has to fit your head before you can do anything with the wig. The knots on the back of the net allow you to resize to fit your head. Secondly, you need to ensure the net is fitting and tight enough for your every day movements. Secure the net by your ear with fitting cushioning on the side to make wearing more comfortable. High quality nets can protect and maintain the shape of the wig for a longer period if time. Natural and healthy looking with no knots can guarantee a soft and silky texture of the wig. Make sure to by a smooth top wig to allow the wig to fall naturally, giving it silky texture and natural style.

Pay attention to the details and you will realize the difference between high quality wigs and poor quality wigs. High quality wigs mostly imported from Japan and Korea have laced hair net which allows more room for breathing, creates a softer texture and secures hair over a long period. Poor quality wigs, usually manufactured in China, have regular hair net which blocks air flow, causes discomfort after a while and does not secure the hair very well.

Imported wigs tend to fit better and have a softer texture. Poor quality hair nets have a tighter fit, less room for air and more rigid texture and frame. Laced hair nets by far allows more room for breathing, secure the net tighter and better texture. High quality wigs have a natural shine from the top which creates a more vibrant look. Dull color under light creates a sluggish look and degrades the overall quality of the wig. High quality gyaru wigs manufactured from Japan or Korea do not tangle easily when combing, less knots and has a smooth texture. Poor quality gyaru wigs get tangled and often create knots and hard to comb through.
How to wear wigs?
1. Pull back your natural hair, preferably secure it so it won’t fall out.
2. Align the hair net and support it with both hands.
3. Fit the hair net over down. Make sure to align the net to your hairline and neckline.
4. Secure all hair and clip it inside the net.
5. Place the wig over and adjust the tightness, fitting and style accordingly

How to take care of wigs?
1. Use conditioning spray 2 - 3 times a week.
2. Spray from an arm's length evenly.
3. Comb out the knots of the wig gently and repeat steps 1 - 3.

How to comb wigs?
1. Take a handful of hair from the wig.
2. Gently brush in one direction.
3. Use finger to twist the hair to give the wig a natural loose curl.

How to wash wigs?
Washing is key when taking care of wigs!
1. Use shampoo like how you would wash your own hair. Make sure to brush out all the knots on the wig before washing it or else more hair could be tangled.
2. Soak the wig in the water with shampoo for 1
to 2 minutes.
3. Carefully and gently rub the wig to clean of dirt collected.
4. Rinse the wig with clean water for a few times until the shampoo is completely washed off.
5. Note, it is important to wash them regularly or else oil and dirt collected over time could damage the quality of the wig and even your own hair.
